Marbled Fondant Cake With Sugar Geode Recipe

Ingredients:

Flour 2-1/2 cups
Sugar 2 cups
Baking powder 2-1/2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Vanilla essence 1 tbsp
Butter 1 cup
Eggs 4
Milk 1 cup
For Buttercream Frosting:

Butter 200 gm
Icing sugar 400 gm
Vanilla essence 1 tsp
Milk 2-3 tbsp (or as desired consistency)
 
How To Make Marbled Fondant Cake 

Method:
• Cream the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
• Add the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla essence.
• In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking powder.
• Add this dry mix to the butter mixture, alternating with the cup of milk.
• Mix well. Bake at 180 degrees centigrade for 45 – 55 minutes.
• For buttercream frosting, cream the butter and add the sugar 2-3 spoons at a time till the consistency is light and fluffy.
• Add the flavours and milk to butter and sugar to achieve a smooth texture.
• To prepare geode, using a piece of fondant, shape into an oval and make a hole in the centre.
• Insert two skewers at the base to create a stand.
• Brush the fondant with a little water and start to build your geode cake topper by sticking crushed sugar candies.
• Once you form the shape of a crystal, paint the center and the edge with edible gold powder.
• Let it dry over night before you use it on the cake.
